TEHRAN -- Iran's Parliamentary Cultural Commission, headed by its chairman Ahmad Pour-Nejati, is scheduled to visit Germany on May 13, an Iranian embassy press release said in Berlin Saturday.

The Iranian delegation is slated to meet with the German Parliamentary Commission for Cultural and Media Affairs, led by Monika Griefahn who visited Iran in September 2000 and initiated the invitation, IRNA reported.

Talks between German and Iranian MPs will focus on ways to expand bilateral parliamentary and cultural ties.

The Iranian deputies are also due to visit a number of cultural and scientific institutes.

German-Iranian relations have witnessed a political and economic renaissance following the Iranian President Mohammad Khatami's landmark visit to Germany two years ago.

Also, the Tehran Justice Department has started investigations into the incident. It expressed sympathy with the family of the students. Education Minister Morteza Haji said the evidences indicate inattention towards the school children at the park.

He stressed that the ministry will encounter the elements of carelessness, which resulted in the incident.
